Thessaloniki Technological Museum-noesis

The Science Center and Technology Museum "NOESIS" covers an area of 15,000 m2. The building morphology refers to the lever of Archimedes. The brand name of the Center intends to emphasize the connection between its operation and human noesis.

The building houses a 150-seat digital Planetarium, a 300-seat Cosmotheatre, a Virtual reality motion Simulator, an exhibition on Technology of Transportation featuring car models that mark the history of automobile, a Technopark, an Ancient Greek Technology exhibition, an exhibition on Technology of Image and a 200-seat Amphitheater. Finally the Center has a café and restaurant and a gift shop.
Concrete is used as construction material of the load bearing system, while steel is also widely used. The building is founded on a grid of foundation beams, while the spherical dome rests on a rigid slab.
