Building of Friendship between Greece & Bosnia Herzegovina (Serajevo)

The former Institutions Building and now Building of Friendship between Greece and Bosnia and Herzegovina, is a significant landmark of the town of Sarajevo, as during the civil war was a hostility symbol. The building was reconstructed and rehabilitated with a total budget of 17.000.000 Euros, co-financed at a percentage of 80% by the Greek Government within the framework of HiPERB. The construction duration was twenty months (September 2005-May 2007).
Our company provided technical consultancy services and support towards the Greek Government for the evaluation of the official proposal of Bosnia-Herzegovina, checked the technical and financial data of the project (design quality and completeness, unit prices-quantities-budget, material quality and specs etc.), checked and revised the tender documentation, attended all tender procedures and evaluated technically and financially the proposals and after the contract signing provided checking services for all project elements, such as qualitative characteristics of materials and works specifications, cash flow control, time schedule control etc.

The building now hosts the Council of Ministers of the Federal Government of Bosnia and Herzegovina and has been constructed with the most contemporary technical specifications and materials.
Includes two underground floors (one semi basement and one basement) and 22 floors (ground floor, mezzanine, 19 floors and 20th floor as technical floor). The gross building surface is 19.600m2 approximately. The offices occupy 18 floors, whereas the restaurant and kitchen are located in the 19th floor. Each typical floor has an area of 870m2, each ground floor is approximately 1400m2 and each basement 2300m2. The total height of the building, including the mechanical floor, is 83.00m.

The scope of the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the building included the repair of the reinforced concrete, the architectural finishes, the electromechanical works for the formation of totally functional offices, meeting rooms, waiting areas, café, kitchen, restaurants, all equipped with heating, air-conditioning, ventilation system, telephone network, fire detection and extinguishing network and safety system.
The façade of the building is comprised of double skin system of the latest technology, which was only recently applied as innovative technological achievement. This system is implemented on the East and West side of the building, providing natural ventilation in the space between the two façade systems. The other two facades are constructed with aluminum and glass-aluminum.
The building was inaugurated July the 23, 2007, by the prime ministers of both countries.
